NBA – Any trust left?

July 23, 2007 PV Leave a comment

Its already hard to believe that the NBA is competitive enough considering all the lucrative offers that the player’s sign & the way most of them play in their contract season. After one of the most boring finals in recent memory the latest scandal will definitely leave every fan second guessing the results of every match. Maybe this is a chance for the NBA to re-invent itself & come up with incentives for teams to compete better than they do today.

F1 – Interesting?

July 23, 2007 PV Leave a comment

Never has F1 been as competitive as it has been for the past 2 yrs. Alonso & Schumacher fighting it out for the championship till the very end of last season & Hamilton’s stunning debut this season was exactly what was needed for F1’s resurgence. With four driver’s having a chance at this year’s championship it’s going to be one hell of a season.

Autofill for Firefox

July 20, 2007 PV Leave a comment

I’ve been using the google autofill feature for quite a while at work for testing my web pages. It does what it’s intended to do (i.e fill your basic information) pretty well. But when it got to testing webpages I was always stuck with the same set of data unless I wanted to change it manually. Yesterday I found this addon for firefox which let’s you setup multiple profile’s with various rules specifying how to fill in your data. Pretty cool ha! I haven’t used it extensively yet, but I think with a little tweaking, it will serve my purpose. Ofcourse in work places where firefox is not allowed I guess there is no other alternative. But not sure why any company with a growing web presence wouldn’t support a browser whose market share is growing day by day. Well, you never know. It took my company about 2yrs to realize that their web applications should support firefox.

Live Search in Firefox

July 17, 2007 PV Leave a comment

For the past couple of days I’ve been trying live search for my web queries & comparing them against Google’s results. The results weren’t far off for the few searches I’ve tried. I wanted to give live search a try for a few months. The very next thing I was looking for was a live tool bar since most often my searches tend to start from my Google tool bar. Of course me being a Firefox user & Microsoft being, well “Microsoft” i did not find a version for Firefox. The most fascinating thing to me was, while every other competitor is trying to make a dent in its market share by stepping into its territory, Microsoft just keeps creating products only to work on its platform. They just don’t get it. Once other OS’s start grabbing market share they will be a victim of their own poison. Anyways coming back to live search in Firefox, my workaround was to remove the search option from Google tool bar and use Firefox’s built in search bar with live search as my default search engine.

Re-Revision of July VB

July 17, 2007 PV Leave a comment

My kudos to every member of the IV community, AILA & all the others involved in the effort, to get a resolution for the July VB fiasco. The official news release this afternoon by the USCIS should have relieved the stress of a lot of immigrants who had to scramble last month to get their paperwork ready. This was a big achievement for the immigration community and a testament to the power of lobbying in Washington.
